At Matsumoto Kindergarten in Edogawa Ward, Tokyo, we converted an unused classroom into a lunchroom.

With the theme “a fun, warm space like stumbling upon a little forest kitchen,” we subtly scattered natural motifs like forest animals and ivy throughout the space, gently blending the character's worldview into the whole environment. We aimed to create a space that adds a little excitement to daily life, sparking the children's curiosity.
The window connecting the cafeteria to the outdoor space features graphics that invite peeking, naturally connecting the cooking staff and children. Additionally, the cafeteria counter was designed to display original character acrylic stands on a daily rotation, adding a thoughtful touch to make mealtime even more enjoyable.

This cafeteria, where the faces of those preparing the food are visible, becomes a vital place for children to develop interest and understanding in food. It serves as a gentle, warm gateway to food education.
