日本の工芸文化において、先人は古くから自然の風合いを生かす寄せ木という伝統技術で、様々な樹種を用い多くの工芸品を作ってきた。何も着色していない自然の木々は、土の中から多くの栄養を得ることで独特の色々になってきたに違いない。その種類の多さに驚かされる。
TONEは、その日本文化に根ざした技術、 素材を生かして家具製作を試みてみた。

In Japan’s craft culture, predecessors have created much craft work applying the traditional techniques of parquetry, which brings out the natural taste of the various types of wood used. The unstained natural colors of wood must result from absorbing the numerous nutrients within the soil. The diversity is amazing. Tone is an attempt at producing furniture using effectively materials and skillsestablished in the Japanese culture.
