We were responsible for the interior and furniture design of the Korean Cultural Center in Osaka, a multi-purpose cultural facility dedicated to introducing, promoting, and fostering exchange of Korean culture.
The center features a variety of spaces for cultural experiences, including a gallery showcasing Korean crafts and artworks, a library stocked with films, dramas, magazines, and other resources, a dance studio for Korean dance and Taekwondo classes, a kitchen studio for Korean cooking lessons, and a multipurpose hall used for performances, talks, and events.
For each space, we designed furniture elements—such as form, materials, and detailing—to subtly harmonize with both traditional and contemporary aspects of Korean culture, tailored to the specific functions and atmospheres of each room. Consideration was also given to user flow and how visitors engage with the space.
The design aims to connect the “present” and “history” of Korean culture, while enhancing the overall appeal and experience of the facility.
