To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Karuizawa Prince Shopping Plaza, we designed a sculptural art monument based on the town’s name, “KARUIZAWA.”

Each letter of “KARUIZAWA” is rendered as a bold, three-dimensional form, arranged rhythmically to evoke a sense of playfulness and approachability. By hollowing out the letters, the monument blends into the surrounding landscape, inviting visitors to experience the beauty of Karuizawa through the sculpture itself. The color palette draws inspiration from the area’s rich seasonal transitions and natural scenery, visually reflecting the essence of the region. At night, the monument gently glows—creating a warm and dreamlike atmosphere that complements the surrounding lights. Visitors often stop to take photos with the artwork, naturally spreading the charm of Karuizawa through social media. Over time, it has become a recognizable symbol of the area and a memorable part of the Karuizawa travel experience.
